NEW MILFORD, Connecticut – September 8, 2016 – New Milford Hospital will host the Dave’s Day Bull’s Bridge Golf Classic on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Bull’s Bridge Golf Club, 71 Bull’s Bridge Road, South Kent, CT. The tournament is named in honor of David C. Flatau, a beloved member of this community who died prematurely due to a sudden cardiac issue. Proceeds from the tournament will help save lives by funding the purchase of AEDs and LUCAS Chest Compression System for New Milford area communities.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death among adults over the age of 40 - one life every two minutes. Ninety-five percent of those who experience SCA die because they do not receive life-saving defibrillation within four to six minutes. This statistic is staggering, but studies have shown that through early intervention with CPR, the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator), and advanced cardiac life support, four out of 10 SCA victims survive.
An AED is the only effective treatment for restoring a regular heart rhythm during SCA and does not require a medical background to operate. Another critical tool used by EMS providers is the LUCAS Chest Compression System, which delivers uninterrupted automated chest compressions. Unfortunately, not all of the New Milford area communities have a sufficient number of these life-saving resources available.
Your philanthropic support and participation at Dave’s Day Bull’s Bridge Golf Classic on Friday, September 30 plays an important role in helping to fund this life-saving equipment.
