DANBURY, Connecticut, April 17, 2018 — Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) announced the appointment of Andrew Whittingham of Stamford, CT as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Whittingham succeeds Richard Jabara who completed his term as Chairman. WCHN also announced the appointment of Daniel McCarthy as Vice Chair, and Edward Mahony as Secretary.

Mr. Whittingham, a well-known business leader and philanthropist, is President and CEO of C.A.W.L. Developments Inc., a private investment firm in Stamford, CT. Prior to that position, Mr. Whittingham spent numerous years as Vice President of Sales for Joint Medical Products Corporation (a division of Johnson & Johnson), and VP of Sales & Marketing for Surgical Dynamics, Inc. (a division of US Surgical Corp). He and his family are well-regarded for their generous philanthropic gifts across southwestern Connecticut, particularly in healthcare. The Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital is named in honor of the family legacy.

Mr. Whittingham has been on the board of Norwalk Hospital since 2008 where he held the titles of Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice Chairman of the Board. In addition, he has served the organization well in various leadership positions on the Finance, Strategic Planning, Technology, and Governance committees.

Daniel McCarthy, the new WCHN Board Vice Chairman, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Frontier Communications. Throughout his tenure at Frontier, he was President and Chief Operating Officer from April 2012 to 2015, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from January 2006 to April 2012.

Mr. McCarthy generously volunteers his time and expertise. He is also a member of the WCHN Corporate Advisory Council. He is on the Board of Directors of Constellation Brands, Inc. and The Foundations in Education for the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of The Business Council of Fairfield County and the Business Roundtable. In December 2013, he was elected to the Board of Trustees of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.

Edward Mahony is now the Secretary of the WCHN Board of Directors having just completed his term as Chairman of the Norwalk Hospital Board of Directors. Mr. Mahony has been the Executive Vice President of Purdue Pharma LP since 2015, where he is responsible for due diligence and integration. He began his career at Purdue Pharma in 1993 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He later became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for all fiscal, procurement, and information technology departments. Mr. Mahony became a Certified Public Accountant in New York in 1977 and began his career in various audit capacities at Price Waterhouse and later at Touche Ross & Company.
