NORWALK, Connecticut – November 17, 2016 – In honor of their $250,000 commitment to support The Forever Garden, the Woman’s Board of Norwalk Hospital presented a check for $40,000, the second installment of a three-year pledge, to Seamus Collins, Vice President of Development for Western Connecticut Health Network, at their annual brunch on Monday, October 17, 2016. The Forever Garden, currently under construction outside the McGraw Pavilion, is a place where visitors, patients and staff will be able to sit and read or talk and visit with each other.
Continuing their legacy of giving, the Woman’s Board “Special Gift” to the hospital was check for $6,000 to be used for the hospital’s Halo Sleep Program. “The goal of the Halo Sleep Program is to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) by providing every mother of an infant born at Norwalk Hospital with safe sleep educational materials and a Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle, a wearable blanket personalized with the Norwalk Hospital logo,” said Carol Kopfmann, publicity chairman, Woman’s Board of Norwalk Hospital. “The Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle features a sleeveless top that reduces the risk of overheating with a ‘Back is Best’ message on the front to remind new parents to put babies to sleep on their back,” said Kopfmann.
The Woman’s Board of Norwalk Hospital operate the Treasure House Thrift Shop located at 5 Isaacs Street in Norwalk. All proceeds from the shop benefit Norwalk Hospital. The Treasure House Thrift Shop accepts donations of gently used clothing and shoes, holiday decorations, and household items including glassware, wall hangings and linens.
