Want to Lose Weight? Don’t Give Up!
Have you tried to lose weight before and failed? Or maybe you know you should shed a few pounds to feel better, but you can’t seem to get motivated.
If so, you’re not alone. Recent research revealed that even while we’ve grown heavier as a nation, fewer people are trying to lose weight.
It’s no secret that losing weight takes effort and time. If you know you should drop some pounds, but can’t seem to get started, give these simple tips a try:
- Write it down. Simply keeping a food diary helps you avoid mindless eating and makes it more likely that you will eat healthier.
- Think small. Instead of trying to overhaul your diet, swap out dessert for fresh fruit several times a week. You’re more likely to succeed with small, manageable changes.
- Enlist friends. Know a friend or neighbor who wants to lose weight? Ask him or her to be your accountability buddy. You can swap healthy meal ideas, exercise together, or simply help keep each other motivated.
- Stay positive. Remember that every day is a new one. Remind yourself of the progress you’ve made and all the times you’ve successfully made better choices. Over time, those choices become habitual—and make it easier to maintain a healthy weight.
